At just nine months old, he’s been battling severe malnutrition since birth. His mother, Nadia, struggles to feed him in a tent where even a piece of bread is a luxury. With no flour in the markets and no food at home, she breastfeeds him as the only source of nutrition.
Nadia, a mother of four, lives in a tent with her children, the youngest of whom, Ahmed, is nine months old and has suffered from severe malnutrition since birth.
The mother says that the markets are devoid of basic foodstuffs, and that she and her children are deprived of even a morsel of bread due to the lack of flour. She added that they rely on tekiya for their food, and are forced to eat everything with a spoon because of the lack of bread.
She explains that she breastfeeds her son Ahmed, which is the only healthy food available to him, and appeals for healthy food for her and her son, noting that she currently relies on food supplements as his main food, even though he is at an age where he can eat solid food.
Ms. Nadia expressed her great happiness when she was contacted to deliver the food parcel, and said that upon her return to the tent, she will prepare a nutritious meal from the parcel’s ingredients and feed it to Ahmed.
