Since August, Rebuilding Alliance (RA) has been buying from a trusted Palestinian supplier to serve over 70,000 hot meals each day. We were able to do this, even when the World Food Programme fell short in delivery of food commodities. In December, in response to a Gaza teacher’s desperate request, we asked our supplier for warm clothes — we were amazed:

• The very next day, she and her family chose the sweatsuits/trainers, shoes, and blankets they needed and wore them home. Clothing was in stock, with reasonable prices! 
• The next day, a friend who lives in Kuwait described the challenges of transferring funds to keep his brother and family alive. With banks closed in Gaza, money changers were taking as much as 35% to provide cash. 

We’re not paying fees or commissions because Rebuilding Alliance buys direct from local suppliers, and then we store the items at our warehouses. We work to keep a reserved inventory so we can continue our services if conditions of deliveries at the border crossings fluctuate.
