As the spirit of Eid al-Adha still lingers in our hearts, I write to you today with urgent updates and encouraging developments from our work in Gaza.

For the past 1 year and 7 months, Rebuilding Alliance’s kitchen teams have been feeding tens of thousands of people every day in Gaza. In total, as of May 31st, our community kitchens have served 22.5 Million meals as a field level partner of the World Food Programme.

We’ve been a lifeline: Up until May 31st, our eight remaining kitchens were serving over 27,000 meals each day, across Gaza. RA’s Palestinian Non-Governmental Partners were forced to stop when food supplies finally ran out this past weekend. No more rice. No lentils. No oil. Nothing to cook with. Our teams held on as long as they could. But now, they can’t cook anymore and because aid is barely coming through, families are desperate and starving.

A way forward. Though RA can no longer keep our kitchens open, we found a way to buy and deliver even more food parcels, now to families of 496 severely malnourished children. These families were identified by Ard Al Insan, the distinguished pediatric association in Gaza and long-time partner of Rebuilding Alliance which is providing nutrition supplements to children diagnosed with severe malnutrition.

We ask for your help. Please donate now for these emergency food parcels, purchased locally in Gaza and already safely distributed at three locations to 496 families of malnourished children.

Please Give Now

Every dollar you give is doubled because 3 generous foundations are providing matching grants!

The need is enormous. UNICEF and WFP warn of looming catastrophe as 71,000 children and more than 17,000 mothers are threatened by acute malnutrition. Rebuilding Alliance will do all we can to feed families at risk. When there is more food to buy, we’ll reach out to more partners treating malnourished children and deliver to these families in need. Also, please know that Rebuilding Alliance’s kitchens are ready to restart the moment the food reaches us.

Please, keep calling Congress and tell them that tens of thousands of food boxes — in Jordan and Egypt — are ready for delivery. Keep pushing for entry. Gaza families need you.

Thank you for all that you are doing. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out to us.

Sincerely,

Donna Baranski-Walker
Founder and Executive Director, Rebuilding Alliance

P.P.S. Rafeek, Rebuilding Alliance’s Gaza Program Manager, wrote, “We distributed 344 food parcels for families of malnourished children between 22-27 May. When we found more food,  we purchased everything available and distributed parcels today, Thursday June 5th, to 143 families more on the Ard El Insan list:  34 families in Gaza city, 90 families in Deir al Ballah, and 19 families in Khan Younis. Two families from the first distribution round and seven families from the second distribution round have not connected yet.  We will keep contacting the families to come and collect their boxes, Inshallah, to be finalized  As soon as possible . In Summary 344 + 143 = 487 boxes with 9 remaining is 9 boxes to reach our goal of distributing emergency food parcels to the families of 496 severely malnourished children.  Big thanks to our dedicated team who always make our mission possible.”

You can read some of the stories of malnourished children whose families received food parcels thanks to your generous donations — available now on the blogs section of our website.
